And I Missed My Welfare Check! | Conservatives Cause Another Racist Stir!
Jillian Rayfield October 27, 2011, 5:55 AM 4300 69
There is no “Go” space in the anti-welfare board game “Obozo’s America,” but rest assured — you can still collect welfare benefits as you pass the “First Of The Month” space.
The game is called “OBOZO’S AMERICA: Why Bother Working for a Living?” with the tagline “The Most Timely and Original Board Game of the Decade!” The website describes it as “a fun fantasy board game based on the preposterous notion that a Marxist clown, running on the vague and shaky platform of hope and change, could become President of The United States.”
The object is to keep collecting benefits while avoiding the “Working Person’s Rut.” From the rather embarrassingly low-tech website:
Get your initial $1,000 cash grant at the First of the Month, then maneuver along Obozo’s Welfare Promenade. Get cash for your out-of-wedlock children. Draw from a stack of Welfare Benefit Cards. Get extra cash from Saturday Night crimes: Gambling, Armed Robbery, Drugs, and Prostitution. Play the lottery and the horses. Get your live-in a job on the Government Cakewalk. Experience the Jail Jaunt. Avoid landing on one of those dreaded “Get a Job” blocks forcing you onto the Working Person’s Rut (Somebody has to pay for Obozo’s Welfare Promenade). 50 Welfare Benefit Cards. 50 Working Person’s Burden Cards. Lots of funny money.
The site features the game’s mascot “Obozo The Marxist Clown” — who also graces the game’s fake currency — and boasts of the “welfare benefit cards” like “you lose perspective and apply for a job, but are denied it. Oboze says: Scream ‘racism’ until welfare lawyer gets you $1,000 settlement.”
In the Economy version of the game, you get “a stack of over a half-a-million dollars in play money (we’re talking serious welfare fraud here), 50 Welfare Benefit Cards, 50 Working Person’s Burden Cards, 30 Out-of-Wedlock Children.” The Deluxe version has a spill-proof surface and the out-of-wedlock children are easier to cut out of the paper they’re printed on.
Here’s the play money:
And the board game:
You can see the full-size board as a pdf here.
The game was created by Ron Pramschufer and Bob Johnson, who run Hammerhead Enterprises in Maryland, and was originally released in 1980 as “Public Assistance: Why Bother Working for a Living?”
“We didn’t invent this game, government liberals did,” Johnson said then. “We just put it in a box.”
In a press release Wednesday, Johnson announced that the game was coming back, claiming it “was forced off the retail market in the 1980s by government officials working with the NAACP, NOW, and other welfare ‘rights’ groups.”
“We intended the game as a parody of government liberalism, with a special focus on the able-bodied loaferism, welfare fraud, and social chaos its domestic policies promote,” Johnson wrote in 2009. “Threatened by the game’s popularity, embarrassed liberals successfully implemented a nationwide government plan to ‘remove the game from the marketplace.’”
The game was entangled in a number of lawsuits after several government officials and the NAACP criticized it as racist and sexist for its depiction of “welfare queens” and other stereotypes. Pramschufer and Johnson first sued (sub req.) a New York City official who sent a letter to retailers urging them not to sell the game, saying “keeping this game off the shelves of your stores would be a genuine public service.” They lost the case and their ultimate appeal was rejected by the Supreme Court, but they also filed a suit against the NAACP and NOW, according to the AP (sub req.).
But in the 90s when they re-released the game — complete with a new “Criminal Justice” side of the board — and claimed it had been banned, the Attorney General of Maryland said there was never a ban on the game. “The state wouldn’t have had the authority to ban this game whatsoever,” then-AG Kathy Schultz said (sub req.), according to the Washington Times.

Oh, Hell Nah - Rush Limbaugh says no to Mitch Daniels.
Mitch Daniels: The man who could reshape the Republican field
By Chris Cillizza, Published: May 8
The Republican’s decision — which could come as soon as Thursday at the Indiana Republican Party’s spring dinner, where his wife, Cheri, will be the keynote speaker — could have an impact well beyond just one man saying yes or no, however.
The GOP presidential race has been defined by relative chaos — and weakness — among the field.
That was reinforced at last week’s first presidential debate of the season, which, aside from former Minnesota governor Tim Pawlenty, featured a handful of long shots and no-shots debating such topics as the legalization of marijuana — and even heroin.
Daniels is regarded (and regards himself) as a candidate of considerable gravity, willing to focus on making tough choices about the nation’s financial future even if that conversation is politically unpopular. (At a February speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington, he said that “purity in martyrdom is for suicide bombers.”)
A Daniels candidacy probably would be taken as a sign that the games are over for the Republican Party, that it is time to buckle down and organize to beat President Obama.
“He will turn a race that is about less serious politics into a race about more serious policy,” argued Alex Castellanos, a Republican media consultant who is not aligned with any candidate heading into 2012. “Daniels is the adult in the room saying the party is over, it’s time to clean house. That contrast in maturity is how a Republican beats Obama.”
The president has acknowledged as much about Daniels, telling an Indiana television station that the governor is “a serious person” before adding: “I have some significant philosophical differences with him.”
Should Daniels opt not to run, on the other hand, the unpredictability that has ruled the race would almost certainly continue unabated.
A field without Daniels — as well as Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour, who in a major surprise last month decided against running — would mean a race that remained in considerable flux as candidates considered sideshows at best (Donald Trump, anyone?) dominated headlines and complicated GOP efforts to convince the public that the party can present a credible alternative to Obama.
“So far, the most recognizable Republican candidates are unable to seriously begin to define the Republican debate for president,” said former congressman Tom Reynolds (N.Y.). “That will keep the GOP presidential sweepstakes looking like it is still trying to find its way.”
To be sure, Daniels’ entrance into the contest shouldn’t be overstated. He would force a more sober tone but almost certainly wouldn’t end the circus-like atmosphere entirely either.
Obama is already moving to capitalize on the uncertainty of the Republican lineup.
Publicly, he is casting himself as the one person who, in matters of domestic and foreign policy, is willing to take on the major problems that face the country.
Behind closed doors, his fundraising operation is humming as the campaign seeks to meet — and probably beat — the $750 million that Obama raised as a candidate in 2008.
And next month will be a big one for the Republican presidential race. The next GOP debate is set for June 13 in New Hampshire, and just three days later the Republican Leadership Conference will open in New Orleans, a gathering that will feature virtually every candidate mentioned for national office.
Given all that, what Daniels decides may well serve as a telling signal of whether Republicans are ready to get serious about beating Obama.

CREDIT! Charge it to the Republicans.
OSAMA BIN LADEN EDITION
I am starting to notice this pattern of what goes on in the mainstream press. The very fact that one president accomplished a difficult mission with success, his critics want to blame him for not crediting the predecessor.
President Barack Obama successfully order the capture or kill of a major terrorist. He succeeds in ordering Navy SEALs to find Osama bin Laden in a town outside of Islamabad, Pakistan. Although the official analysis of the mission is still being detailed, many of his critics felt that former president George W. Bush and his administration deserves most of the credit.
Republicans in less than 24 hours crediting Bush for the negligent interrogations and torture of detainees at the Guantanamo Bay Military Base prison. The conservatives fault President Obama for giving a proper burial of bin Laden and not releasing the graphic photos of the dead. Potential presidential candidates are trying their best not to credit Obama for the mission's success.
Sarah Palin, Newt Gingrich, Rick Santorum and Mike Huckabee give praise to the mission, but avoid thanking President Obama for the mission's success.
And even as Rasmussen Polls say no significant bump and the Drudge Report goes forth with the usual race-baiting stories, conservatives are really desperate overlook the fact that a major headache to the United States is no longer among us.
President Obama gets a strong bump in his handling of terrorism, foreign policies and national defense. But still low marks on economy and job production. The Republicans look forward to paint the economy to Obama's domestic polices.
Salon has written an article to the narrative the credit issue.

Missouri GOP Speaker of The House - Flood Black Town, Save Farmland
Huffington Post article: Republican leader jokes about flooding poor Black majority town. From the hometown of conservative radio king Rush Limbaugh. Cape Girardeau, Missouri State Representative and Speaker of The Missouri House makes a insensitive joke about nearby town Cairo, Illinois being overwhelmed by a potential flooding crisis.
Due to high rains, waters at the confluence of the Mississippi and Ohio Rivers are running dangerously high, and the mayor of Cairo, Illinois, located at the confluence, has asked residents to evacuate the town.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is considering a plan to destroy a levee, which would lower the floodwaters by a few feet and help protect Cairo. But the state of Missouri has vigorously objected to the plan, because it would badly damage around 130,000 acres of farmland, the Wall Street Journal reported.
Missouri's Republican House Speaker Steve Tilley was asked by reporters about the dilemma. "Would you rather have Missouri farmland flooded or Cairo underwater?" Tilley is asked.
Without hesitation, he replies, "Cairo. I’ve been there. Trust me. Cairo.”
As another reporter prepares to ask another question, Tilley goes on. “Have you been to Cairo? OK, then you know what I’m saying then.”
Cairo, Illinois (pronounced KAY-roh) was at the turn of the 20th century a bustling trade center. The 2,800-person town is now largely abandoned, two-thirds African-American, and deeply impoverished: nearly 50 percent of children under the age of 18 in Cairo live below the poverty level.
Many criticized the Speaker for what they described as insensitivity in the remarks. The Capitol Fax, which posted the video of Tilley's remarks, also has a press release from Illinois State Senator Gary Forby:
During a time when people are being asked to evacuate their homes and leave behind their belongings, it absolutely blows my mind that that type of dialogue is being thrown around by the Missouri Speaker. Not only is it in poor taste, but it absolutely disgusting that Speaker Tilley would joke about putting the lives of Cairo residents at risk by choosing farmland over a community. The St. Louis Beacon notes that the Speaker has since issued an apology:
"I was asked a question about blowing up a dam in Missouri and the negative consequences that happened to Missouri," Tilley said. "As the speaker of the House, (I believe) my first responsibility is to Missourians. And in my effort to defend them, I went on to say some pretty insensitive and inappropriate remarks about Cairo."Watch the remarks by Speaker Tilley:

Eni, Meeny, Miny, Birther....
Why can't Obama ever show his long-form birth certificate?
He spent millions of dollars trying to hide this!
No matter what [liberals/fact-checkers/Barack Obama] says, he still hasn't provided evidence to prove he's a natural born citizen!
He never showed his college transcripts from Occidental College. His grandma says he was born in Kenya. His legal name is Berry Soetoro. He's actually a Muslim who masquerades a Christian. Of course, he attended a Black Liberation Church with an anti-American racist pastor named Jeremiah Wright!
Expect this from a conservative viewer.
The notorious Birther Movement is alive and well.
CBS/New York Times Poll states that nearly a quarter of Americans believe that Barack Obama was not born in the United States. Among all Republicans, 45 percent believe he was born in another country, as do 45 percent of Tea Party supporters, the poll shows.

Even with the amount of evidence to debunk the claims, conservatives refuse to believe that the President Of The United States is legitimate.

Bohener Tosses Out "WHERE THE JOBS" Theme Once Again!

My congressman, Speaker of The House John Boehner (R- Ohio) continues his foot in his mouth leadership tour!
If spending cuts kill jobs, ‘so be it’: Boehner
By Sahil KapurWASHINGTON – House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) on Tuesday showed little concern for the federal job losses that could result from the GOP's proposed spending cuts.
"In the last two years, under President Obama, the federal government has added 200,000 new federal jobs. If some of those jobs are lost so be it. We're broke," Boehner told reporters, according to Talking Points Memo.
"The biggest danger to our country is if we do not act," the speaker added. "The status quo is shackling the future for our kids and grandkids – that's why we have to act."
Republicans have proposed a slew of budget cuts worth $32 billion to a multitude of federal programs.
GOP lawmakers have long insisted that federal spending cuts and job growth go hand in hand, portraying heavy government spending as a prime cause of the economic downturn.
"Where are the jobs?" was an oft-repeated slogan by Boehner during the 2010 midterm election cycle, as he and his colleagues attacked Democrats' stimulus and other spending programs.
But Boehner's remarks not only reveal that Republicans accept those two goals may be contradictory, they suggest that the GOP considers spending cuts a higher priority.
As the unemployment rate remains high at well above 9 percent, surveys consistently show that jobs are the top concern on voters minds.President Barack Obama unveiled his budget this week, also calling for across-the-board cuts to various programs, receiving criticism from progressives and being dismissed as insufficient by Republicans.

So Much For The Job Pledge By The Republicans!

GOP-led House is moving to restrict funding of abortions
By William Douglas | McClatchy NewspapersWASHINGTON — The battle over abortion takes center stage in Congress this week as two House subcommittees hold hearings on separate bills that would expand restrictions on federal funding of abortions.
The "No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act" would eliminate tax breaks for abortions. The "Protect Life Act" would restrict use of federal funds for abortions under the new health care law. While both may pass the Republican-controlled House of Representatives, their prospects of passing a Democratic-held Senate or escaping President Barack Obama's veto pen are slim to none.
"They can't expect this legislation to go beyond the House or Representatives," said Steve Smith, a political science professor at Washington University in St. Louis. "It allows the House Republicans to do something symbolically important for their coalition base."
Still, the bills have alarmed abortion-rights advocates, who say they are attempts to attack legalized abortion — federally funded or not — through the tax code and measures to deny women access to the procedure.
"These bills represent a new front in the abortion war," said Donna Crane, policy director for NARAL Pro-Choice America. "The idea...of using the tax code to impose political views, that's extremely alarming."
Opponents of legal abortion, emboldened by powerful support in a Republican-controlled House, say the bills are just the beginning.
"The Republicans in the House are definitely following the promise they made to undo the damage that's been done," said Kerry Brown, a spokeswoman for Susan B. Anthony List, an anti-abortion group.
The "No Taxpayer for Abortion Act," designated H.R. 3 and sponsored by Rep. Chris Smith (R-N.J.), seeks to codify provisions of the so-called Hyde Amendment, which prohibits federal funding for abortion but must be renewed by Congress annually.
In addition, Smith said his bill would "permanently end any U.S. government financial support for abortion whether it be direct funding or by tax credits or any other subsidy." A House Judiciary subcommittee will hold a hearing on it Tuesday.
Smith's bill stirred a huge uproar among abortion-rights advocates by listing victims of "forcible rape" among those who would be exempted from the bill.
"Forcible rape" wasn't fully defined in the bill, but abortion-rights supporters warned that the term could be used to block access to abortion for rape victims who were drugged, unconscious or mentally ill.
A spokesman for Smith said the term was dropped from the bill Thursday after Smith concluded that the term was being "misconstrued." That wasn't enough to satisfy abortion supporters.
"The fact that it took weeks of public outrage before the new House leadership was shamed into giving up one if its efforts to redefine rape to deny women access to abortion shows how out of touch they are with the values of the American people," said Cecile Richards, president of Planned Parenthood Federation of America. "Simply put, the now discarded 'forcible rape' provision is just the beginning of what's wrong with Rep. Smith's bill."
Like Smith's bill, the Protect Life Act, or H.R. 358, sponsored by Rep. Joe Pitts (R-Pa.), seeks to restrict the use of federal funds under the new health care law, but isn't as aggressive in terms of using the tax code. The House Energy and Commerce health subcommittee, which Pitts chairs, will hold a hearing on it Wednesday.
Late last week, abortion-rights supporters turned their attention to Pitts' bill, saying it contains language that would allow hospitals to deny a woman an abortion, even if her life were in jeopardy.
Andrew Wimer, a Pitts spokesman, calls the accusation false. He said the language is an attempt to include in the health care law a "conscience clause" for doctors and hospitals that object to performing abortions.
"These are typical attacks that come up," Wimer said.
Abortion foes both in and out of Congress say they're undeterred by criticism. Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, said that taking on abortion would be a House priority under his leadership.
"A ban on taxpayer funding of abortions is the will of the people, and it ought to be the will of the land," Boehner told reporters last month. "The current law, particularly as enforced by this administration, does not reflect the will of the American people."
One of Boehner's guests at Obama's State of the Union address last month was Cardinal Donald Wuerl, archbishop of Washington, D.C. The United States National Conference of Catholic Bishops has endorsed both bills.
Brown of Susan B. Anthony's List said that backing from Boehner and 80 of the 87 new House Republicans will improve their chances of getting legislation through.
NARAL's Crane looks at the diminishing numbers of abortion supporters in the House and the rising GOP numbers in the Senate and worries. While many experts believe a measure to restrict access to legalized abortion couldn't make its way from the Senate to Obama's desk, Crane isn't so sure.
She counts 40 senators who solidly support abortion rights, 46 who oppose abortion — and the rest of them sitting on the fence.
NARAL's strategy for dealing with the changing landscape: "Make sure the White House is the ultimate firewall," Crane said.

The Democratic Party Calls Out Fox News!

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee is launching a new campaign to respond to the spin from conservative news outlets expected to follow President Obama's State of the Union address.
In a new mailer sent out Wednesday to the committee's four-million member e-mail list, supporters are invited to join the new "State of the Union 'Fact Check FOX' Team."
"This group of Democratic Party activists will stand at the ready to counter the lies and distortions that erupt from the rightwing media and Republican spin doctors like Sarah Palin and Glenn Beck following President Obama's State of the Union address on Wednesday night," the e-mail pitch says.
The DCCC is inviting members to send text messages, e-mails or use Facebook or Twitter to fact check the pundits weighing in after the speech.
Supporters who sign up for the program will also receive "rapid response fact check text alerts." The DCCC is aiming to recruit 5,000 new members to the fact-check team by midnight.
In addition to conservative heavyweights like Beck and Palin, former Bush adviser Karl Rove, Democratic strategist Joe Trippi and Fox News's Sean Hannity will contribute to the Fox News analysis after the president's address.Become part of the Fact Check FOX Rapid Response Team: "Sign up to become part of the Fact Check FOX Rapid Response Team"

Tea Partying with White Supremacists! - White Supremacists and Far Right Militias Mobilizing Anger against President Obama
With the election of the Barack Obama, a failing economy and anti-immigrant sentiment on the rise, some activists are calling it the perfect storm for recruitment by racist organisations.
Supremacist groups are reportedly targeting soldiers returning from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan as well as trying to become part of 'mainstream' conservatism by organising around the successful 'Tea Party' movement. 2010 © AlJazeeraEnglish, Inc.

A new report from the Anti-Defamation League
© 2009 - 2010 Anti-Defamation League
The Tea Party phenomenon, which began with anti-tax rallies staged across the country on April 15, 2009, will continue as activists in almost every state are planning similar events on July 4. Notably, white supremacists are again planning to participate. As they have done with other political and social issues, for example, promoting the Ron Paul campaign and using the immigration debate, white supremacists and anti-Semites are planning to exploit Tea Parties to disseminate their hateful views and recruit a larger following.
.
Extremists plan to recruit at Tea Parties
Stormfront, the most popular white supremacist Internet forum, is home to discussion between extremists eager to influence the events. In addition to circulating a list of local organizers and promoting planned rallies, Stormfront members are trying to find ways to involve themselves in the events. In posts to the forum, many voice their intent to attend the Tea parties for the purpose of cultivating an "organized grassroots White mass movement."
Posts to Stormfront:
- "We need a relevent [sic] transitional envelope-pushing flyer for the masses. Take these Tea Party Americans by the hand and help them go from crawling to standing independently and then walking toward racialism."
- "We intervene to shape the new pro-White grassroots agenda from within the crowd. We intervene for active effect at the event, for advancement of White racial consciousness and solidarity, and for the growth of the organized grassroots White mass movement and the most perceptive racially aware activist element."
- "I also agree that spreading the WN message at these events is a good idea-it's time already,we've gotta do it!! Carefully, of course."
- "A big crowd of irate White folks protesting the government seems like the perfect time and place for us WN's to promote our cause, at least to my way of thinking."
- "I distributed WN literature at the last Tea Party in Phoenix. I will be doing it again in July. This is the time and the place. For those on a budget, I would suggest printing business cards with the web address of your group or organization. Keep it simple."
- "I think they'd be ideal for spreading WN literature and gaining recruits in large numbers, more quickly."
Tea Party Americans Coalition
An anti-Semite and white supremacist using the name "Whites Forward" created the Tea Party Americans Coalition (TPAC) as "a working group for serious White racialist ACTIVISTS in the US who want to effectively coordinate our efforts and intervene for effect in Tea Party-type events." Anti-Semitic, racist, and anti-immigrant themes run through the six issues on which the working group is based.
"Whites Forward" is hoping that TPAC will be the "genesis of our new White mass movement and the fertile womb for our pro-White political party." He has called on other white supremacist groups to align themselves with the coalition, "Take these Tea Party Americans by the hand and help them go from crawling to standing independently and then walking toward racialism." —Stormfront member "Whites Forward"including the Council of Conservative Citizens, the Nationalist Coalition, David Duke's EURO organization, and European Americans United.
Currently, 42 individuals have registered as TPAC members, including:
- Don Black, well-known throughout the white supremacist and anti-Semitic community, both for his role as the founder and operator of Stormfront, and for his appearances and speeches at racist and anti-Semitic gatherings. Based in Florida, Black is a former Grand Dragon in the Ku Klux Klan who served prison time for plotting to invade the Caribbean island of Dominica and overthrow its government.
- John Ubele, the Florida-based Operations Manager for the neo-Nazi Nationalist Coalition. A former member of the neo-Nazi National Alliance, Ubele was also a founding member of the Sons of Liberty Committee, a group whose stated goal was for "the interests of European Americans…to reign supreme in all deliberations and actions of our government." Ubele also hosted "Radio with John Ubele," a weekly radio program hosted on Stormfront.
National Alliance leader tells followers to spread neo-Nazi message at Tea Parties
Erich Gliebe, who heads the West Virginia-based National Alliance (NA), devoted a May 2009 Internet radio broadcast to recast the purpose of the Tea Parties as opportunities to unite the white race and motivate its members to action. Gliebe argued that white people have simply had enough of what he described as minorities relying on tax dollars to fund government programs. He explained that "middle class White Americans are finally protesting."
Optimistic that recruitment at the Tea Parties could expand his group's membership, Gliebe suggested that "a number of those who turned out on April 15th are ready to embrace the National Alliance's message." He also alleged that the NA had experienced an increase in applications and requests for information as a result of the Tea Parties.
Gliebe encouraged white people to exploit the events to form a movement that will address the "major issues facing White Americans today." Finally, he requested that individuals intending on participating in future tea parties distribute a pamphlet created by deceased National Alliance leader William Pierce.
White supremacist Billy Roper a Tea Party organizer in
A May blog post revealed that White Revolution members will attend local Tea Party protests and distribute leaflets and flyers. Their goal will be to "educate, activate, and recruit." The blog post encouraged readers to "plan to attend one to do your part for our race and nation!"

THE DEMOCRATIC FRONTRUNNERS TURN CHICKEN!

Democrats: Time To Panic!
What could be worse for the party in power? The president's polls, the Democrats trying to gather support for health care reform, or the fact that members of their party are retiring!
With prominent Democrat retirings, the Republicans want to seize opportunity to retake the Congress.
Senators Chris Dodd (D-Connecticut), Bryon Dorgan (D-North Dakota), Governor Bill Ritter (D-Colorado), Congressman Bart Gordon (D-Tennessee), Congressman Neil Abercrombie (D-Hawaii), Congressman Brian Baird (D-Washington), Congressman John Tanner (D-Tennessee), Congressman Dennis Moore (D-Kansas), and Robert Wexler (D-Florida) are leaving the political spotlight.
Congressman Parker Griffith of Alabama, is now a Republican. The congressman switched parties after criticizing the Democratic agenda in December 2009. More misfortunes trouble Democrats. The ailing Senator Robert Byrd (D-West Virginia) is not appearing for role call, and Senator Joe Lieberman (I-Connecticut) is a thorn in the Democratic agenda.

Although, most of the problems solely rest on the former President George W. Bush's doorstep, a slew of conservative activists (ranging from Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity, Bill O'Reilly, Matt Drudge, Michelle Malkin, RedState, Fox News, WorldNetDaily, Newsmax, etc.) will continue to press their agenda to the Republicans and then to the masses.
President Obama's job approvals are in the low 50s and some are in the high 40s. That's not good. Some of the problems do reside with reasonable concerns (federal spending, the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, high unemployment, economic woes, and lack of interest), the sole reasons for Republican rage is basically racism. And it's so blatant, I even went as far to make a video criticizing the conservatives running around with this "Socialist" crap.
What's your take on the issues?
